Villa West Cliff
Villa West Cliff
Perched on the steep cliff west of Gustavia, across from the Saba and Saint Eustache islands, Villa West Cliff is still located within the city. Designed around a patio, built-into the ground, it is highly secluded, and only birds and yacht’s sails can be heard.

Minimising the energy consumption in West Cliff was a priority, therefore photovoltaic panels have been placed flat on the roof. This installation, designed in collaboration with engineers and a first for Saint Barth, provides the house with one third of its energy needs. If additional energy is needed, a group generator can provide some, as well as EDF, the French electricity supply company. The switch from one source to the other is very smooth and discrete.

On the city side, the Villa West Cliff facade is colonial. Towards the sea, it is modern and has a planted living roof. Concrete structures combine with wooden cladding.

Inside, modern layout and design have been created by Nicolas Gessat and the decoration is by Delphine Dain. The attractive patio makes use of the island’s indigenous royal palm trees.
